The school started in 1984 as a Harambee school to cater for the children of the local community. It was then a mixed day secondary school. In 1990, the school became a mixed boarding school. In 2002, it became a fully fledged boys boarding school when the girls were phased out.
The following principals have served the school : Mrs. Margaret Racho, Mr. Benson Mafuno, Mrs. Elizabeth Omondi, Mr. Francis Matheka, Dr. Kennedy Kerei and Mr. Muchiri Kibuku who is the current Principal. The school is sponsored by the P.C.E.A Church and governed by the Board of Management and P.A.
The school has a student population of 637, 33 teaching staff members and 24 non teaching staff.
